The Elasmobranch Project Indonesia (EPI) team has been working towards the conservation of rhinorays in Karimunjawa National Park through science and stakeholder engagement since 2022. The EPI’s Rhinorays Project is edging towards its final step of advocating for a science-based management policy plan to the government agencies and key local stakeholders to protect what might be a sanctuary and an important habitat for rhinorays population in Karimunjawa, if not the Java Sea.
