This grant will fund a portion of Pew’s Global Shark Conservation Campaign to implement the 2013 and 2016 listings of sharks and rays on Appendix II of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES). This will be accomplished through in-country work in the South Asian country of Bangladesh and the West African country of Senegal to establish strong mortality controls. These funds will also support efforts to list additional shark species at the next CITES meeting in May 2019.
