The blue shark is globally assessed as ‘Near Threatened’ in the IUCN Red list, but Critically Endangered in the Mediterranean Sea. The North Atlantic stock has declined by an estimated 50% in the last three generations and would therefore likely be assessed as "Endangered". The Marine Research and Conservation Foundation will work with partners and stakeholders to pave the way to sustainable management of the Atlantic blue shark through CMS Concerted Actions.
