This project will continue to build on CITES shark implementation efforts in West and Central Africa to help recover shark and ray populations in the region and will provide countries in the West and Central African and Latin American regions with opportunities for maintaining the strong and collaborative relationship between the regions on their shared conservation goals. At CITES, it aims to advance efforts for shark and ray conservation under the treaty including strengthening compliance and address the problem of current listing criteria not being biologically suitable for sharks and rays.
