Elasmobranchs are incidentally caught in many industrial fisheries in Namibian waters, but little is known about which species are caught, the quantities caught, and how sustainable those catch rates are. This project aims to collect data on commercial fishing vessels to evaluate levels of elasmobranch bycatch and to identify species at risk of over-exploitation. This baseline information is essential for developing future management strategies. A species identification guide will also be produced.
